Meet Katie
Katie Donahoe Youth Services Librarian
Katie began working at Peoples Library on November 13th. Her previous job was at Brentwood Library in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. In her free time she likes to write poetry and songs, play the guitar, listen to music, learn new languages, and travel. The coolest place she's ever visited is Bruges, Belgium. The Beatles have always been her favorite band, but she will listen to just about any type of music, so long as it does not include saxophones. Katie has always wanted to work in libraries, and of course enjoys reading. Her top five favorite books are A Clockwork Orange, Bink & Gollie, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Mysteries Of Pittsburgh, and Neverwhere. Her favorite colors are purple and yellow.

What's Katie Reading
Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures In The 8th Grade
by Landry Q. Walker
I liked this six-volume graphic novel series as soon as I saw the cover of the first book! Here are the first months of Linda Lee’s (AKA Supergirl)
accidentally-on-purpose trip to Earth. Watch her battle homesickness, start school, make
friends and enemies, and meet her fellow, more famous Kryptonian,
Superman. Enjoy this superheroine take on the middle school territory of
“Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.”

Fortunately, The Milk
by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Skottie
Young
Neil Gaiman’s latest book for kids, Fortunately The
Milk, tells the story of a dad’s very strange trip to
the store to buy milk. Unlike typical Gaiman children’s fair (“Coraline,” “The Wolves In The
Walls”), this book is not creepy at all! It’s more in the vein of his “Crazy
Hair,” a story of when the ordinary turns extraordinary. The kids need
milk for their cereal, and Dad needs milk for his tea, so he goes on a shopping
trip featuring aliens, hot air balloons, and, eventually, a
trip back home.

United Tweets Of America
Written and illustrated by Hudson Talbott
This very original,
irreverent state bird book taught me a lot about different states
(and different birds). You’ll never guess how many states have the same State Bird, and
which bird has that honor (hint: not the Bald Eagle!). The pictures are fantastic, the birds all have such individual attitudes! Not perfect for a state bird school project, but a great read all the same!
