11:00 am: Giraffes Can’t Dance – Musical Storytelling with the PSO & Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre! onlineJune 30, 2021 – Join the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre for a musical reading of Giles Andreae’s classic children’s book Giraffes Can’t Dance. The delightful tale of Gerald the Giraffe will be brought to life with performances by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra of each of the dances Gerald encounters on his journey to find his song. Teaching artist Kerra Alexander from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will narrate and demonstrate dance moves. Join us to listen, dance, and move along! |

Twice a day, every day of the year, weather balloons are released simultaneously from almost 900 locations worldwide! This includes 92 released by the National Weather Service in the US. The balloon flights last for about 2 hours, can drift as far as 125 miles, and rise up to over 100,000 feet in the atmosphere.

Attendees will be able to view the inside of the boat, ask questions, and hear from survivor Leo Goldberger, who was smuggled to safety on a Danish boat in the middle of the night.
